A regional workshop for specialists from radioactive waste management
companies and authorities was held on November 9 – 11 in Vilnius in the hotel “Karolina”. Defining and
implementing of waste acceptance criteria for disposal was discussed. Also, French, Spanish, Swedish, Slovak and English experience of
collaboration of waste producers, waste managers and regulatory bodies. An
attention was paid to situation in countries constructing repositories or
planning to construct as well as to problems arising for operators of the
repositories.
An outline of f IAEA technical document on development and application of
radioactive waste acceptance criteria was prepared during the workshop, after
summing up the existing experience.
The
seminar was jointly organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
and the Lithuanian Radioactive Waste Management Agency (RATA).
